Spicy Green Beans

One of my favorite dishes at Thai and Chinese restaurants is spicy green beans.  I finally decided to try making my own and they turned out pretty good.  For our family, more spice is always nice!  So I added some extra dried crushed red chili peppers after cooking.

Spicy Green Beans

1 pound fresh green beans, washed, trimmed, and cut in half
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon dried crushed red chili peppers
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon Hoisin sauce
1 teapsoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon salt

Heat oil in a large saute pan over medium heat. Add garlic and chili peppers and cook for a few seconds.  Add green beans.  Cook for 1 minute.  Add water, hoisin sauce, vinegar, sesame oil and salt. Cook until liquid is nearly absorbed and the green beans are tender, about 12 to 15 minutes, stirringly occasionally.  If more spice is desired, add extra dried crushed red chili peppers after cooking.
